The Katunguru Womens Group and Simba Dance Club
The Katunguru Womens Group makes crafts and undertakes other cultural activities in support of their local community.
On this page we will keep you informed of and share with you the activities of the Group
The Queen Elizabeth Parks Twinning Project is proud to support the Women of Katunguru. Members of the Twinning Project's Organising Team have regularly visited this villageduring 2009 and 2010 and enjoyed a warm welcome on each occasion.
The Women's Group is working on a plan to create Bandas (simple accommodation) for tourists. This will provide much needed income for the people of the village as well as a fantastic opportunity for visitors to experience a 'real' Ugandan Experience.
The Twinning Project will try to help the Women's Group to seek the funds they need and will be making a donation as well.
If you are travelling to the Queen Elizabeth National Park please take the time to visit this and other community groups and immerse yourself in the local culture. By buying their crafts and watching local dance and drama performances you are suporting these communities.
The Project is looking to create a partnership with Katunguru Womens Group and in the future hopes to be able to offer items made by the group for sale over the internet. This way you can still support this Group even if you are unable to travel to Uganda yourself.
