The Twinning Project works with 5 Primary schools and 3 secondary schools in the UK. The schools are involved in an exchange ideas and information about a variety of subjects from culture and citizenship to geography and environmental studies. The schools communicate with there Ugandan twin through a variety of media including Internet, mobile phone, text and more traditional methods like posting out pictures and written accounts.
The school’s level of commitment to the twinning arrangements varies from integrating the twinning arrangement fully into the school curriculum to a more occasional involvement, but however the school chooses to get involved they can be assured that their
Ugandan school really appreciates and benefits from the partnership.
Some schools have organised African themes days, where the Twinning Project can help provide bead making skills, African story-telling and music and dance sessions.
The Project can also arrange for children to meet and talk to Ugandan citizens, including Rangers from Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda
If required the Project can also provide volunteers to lead assemblies, give talks to either school children or adults The Project has started to put together a collection of African resource material which schools are welcome to borrow and if your school wants a specific African item we ill do our best to source it.
It is hope that Teachers from our English Twinned School will visit their Ugandan during 2012, with teachers from Uganda visiting England in 2013.
