Visit Uganda

The Twinning Project is keen to encourage people to visit Uganda.

Not only will you have a holiday to remember, but by choosing carefully where you stay, which local tours you go on and where you buy your souvenirs, the money you spend can also be of great benefit to the local communities.

Uganda has friendly and welcoming people (in our opinion the friendliest place in Africa),

and has awe-inspiring scenery and wonderful wildlife.

It is a place you will want to return to again and again

The Twinning Project is happy to offer advice, about travel to Uganda, eco-friendly and sustainable travel companies, as well as specific advice about staying in and around the Queen Elizabeth National Park, including ‘Hippo House’ the Twinning Project’s home in Uganda.

For more information please contact us

also visit the the Ugandan Wildlife Authority web site

Are you are a student

or post graduate

Are you looking for research work or work experience in conservation, ecology or zoology then the Twinning Project can assist you in finding worthwhile projects with the Ugandan Wildlife Authority.

There are some research opportunities at Queen Elizabeth National Park where, for a fee you can work with researchers based at the National Park

There are also opportunities in Tourism and Park Management. We are particularly keen to hear from colleges and universities who are interested in making more formal links with the Twinning Project and Queen Elizabeth National Park. Contact the Project for more details or an informal chat

Recommended Reading

If you are traveling to Uganda, particularly the West of Uganda then the Twinning Project would recommend the following books

Uganda's Great Rift Valley by Andrew Roberts

This is a favourite of the Twinning Project and works well as a travel guide as well as a reference book on the Ugandan Rift Valley. It is well written and the fact that Andrew has worked and lived in Uganda for many years gives it a comfortable sense of knowledge. You can order this book direct from the author either in hardcopy or as a pdf by clicking on the image of the book.

The Bradt Guide to Uganda by Phillip Briggs is also an invaluable aid to traveling through Uganda.

Bradt Guides have a good reputation and can be relied upon to give you just that snippet of information you are looking for.

You can order this book via Amazon, W H Smiths and Waterstones. Just make sure you register and order through www.easyfundraising.org.uk remembering to nominate The Queen Elizabeth Parks Twinning Project as your charity.
