World Ranger Day 2017 - 'Standing with Rangers'
The Queen Elizabeth Parks Project funded World Ranger Day celebrations at the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda.
The day started with a parade of Ranger, Local Police and Project Members led by a local band and some acrobats!.
The parade visited the local community of Kikorongo where a community litter pick took place, this was followed by photos at the equator after which a second march took place at the the community of Kyambura. This was followed by a official ceremony at the Park Headquarters during which Ugandan Rangers gave demonstrations of anti-poaching patrols and crocodile capture, candles where lit in memory of fallen Ranger colleagues and speeches of celebration and rememberance were made.
This was the first such World Ranger Day event carried out in Uganda and it is hoped that in future years more Ugandan Rangers and Parks will become involved.
The pictures below tell the story of our World Ranger Day.
