We have a number of projects for which we are currently raising funds and resources. Some of these projects are outlined on this page, but we would welcome your support in delivering any of our key objectives.
Resourcing the Rangers
Rangers are the thin Green Line that protect the habitats and wildlife of our natural environment.
In many places around the world these brave men and women put their lives on the line to ensure the survival of rare and endangered species and are often poorly resourced.

The Twinning Project aims to try and ensure that the Rangers of Queen Elizabeth National Park are supported in their efforts to protect the wildlife and work with the local community to ensure that the benefits of ecotourism reach them.

We need help to raise funds to purchase key items of equipment.
These range from simple wet weather gear, handheld GPS equipment.

Even a donation of £5 will buy a compass which is vital in navigation and survey tasks.
Or perhaps you might like to sponsor a potential Ranger through his or her training.

Contact us if you would like to either donate money or equipment.

Community Projects

We are planning two projects which we hope will directly benefit the local communities of Queen Elizabeth National Park and assist with the conservation of the Park.

We would like to provide funds to start up and support Craft Groups especially for women. (see the Kantunguru Womens Group Page)
The idea of the Craft Groups is too encourage the making of items that can be sold to the tourists visiting the Park and also to export some items to Queen Elizabeth Country Park in England for sale in the Visitor Centre there.

All the monies generated by these sales would be used to provide an income source which would support the families involved and local community activity.

We would also like create sustainable food production system by providing people with and training people to keep and breed pigs and other small farm animals.
This would help to provide a healthy sustainable food source and help to reduced potential conflict issues with the National Park.

Both projects need financial support and volunteer help.

Please contact us if you would like to know more.

 School Projects

Please look at the Twinned Schools page for more information about our School Projects

One of our main projects for 2009/10 is raising funds to build classrooms and improve resources at four schools in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Kafuro primary School, Nyakatonzi Primary, Katunguru Primary School in the North of the Park and the creation of a school at Mweya.
All these schools are attended by the children of the Park Staff as well as the local community.
By helping to provide better educational facilities, not only do we increase the chances for the children to gain an education and be better equipped for the future, but the Rangers can work with and develop programmes to foster a better understanding of the conservation issues within the Park.

By helping to provide this support, The Twinning Project hopes to build partnerships with local communities.

£6000 will build a three room class block and £20 buys a school desk - can you help us ?

The Twinning Project in England will be trying to raise this money and will be organising trips out to Uganda to help with the building of the classrooms and other teaching and learning resources based projects.

Please contact us if you wish to donate or volunteer your time to help.
